This nurse truly exemplified going above and beyond to care for my grandfather and our family during his final moments. As a nurse myself, I was touched to hear from my aunt about how amazing this person was in keeping our “Popo” clean and comfortable, especially considering the challenges he faced with pain and vomiting blood continuously. This person kept me updated throughout the day with their positive attitude, showing a remarkable kindness that eased the overwhelming nature of our questions. When I called for an ETA of transport to hospice after work, they were attentive to my desire to see him before his departure. Even after all their responsibilities, they offered to call me if they arrived before I got there. After picking up my kids from camp, we headed to his room, and just ten minutes after our arrival, “Popo” passed away. This person came in, and when my youngest daughter was in tears, they took her by the hand to the back to get snacks to comfort her. They ensured “Popo” was clean for family viewing, granting us the time we needed while providing refreshments and snacks. This nurse created a heartfelt experience for us during this difficult time, making us feel truly cared for. This person even stayed after their shift to make sure we were ok. Our entire family is grateful to this nurse for their extraordinary care and compassion!
