July 2026 Honoree
Mahmoud Abu Saeleik, Nurse Manager
I would like to formally recognize Mahmoud for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for this quarter. Mahmoud exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional nurse leader. He brings a strong, grounded personality supported by extensive nursing experience and a proven record of high-impact leadership.
He leads one of the most challenging units in our organization—an environment that demands resilience, strategic thinking, and unwavering commitment. Despite these challenges, Mahmoud consistently demonstrates the ability to stabilize, elevate, and transform performance.
One of Mahmoud’s defining strengths is his ability to take ownership of any task or emerging challenge and guide his unit back to the right track with clarity, structure, and confidence. Whether the issue relates to staffing shortages, CLABSI reduction, turnaround time, IV compliance, HAPI prevention, or other operational and quality indicators, Mahmoud approaches each situation with analytical thinking, calm leadership, and a solutions-driven mindset. His actions consistently lead to measurable improvements, and I can cite numerous examples where his interventions directly elevated outcomes.
Mahmoud’s influence extends far beyond his own unit. He has become a benchmark for excellence across the organization—frequently serving as a point of reference, a source of consultation, and a role model for other leaders. His expertise is sought across multiple departments, and he is widely recognized as a trusted advisor in complex operational and clinical matters.
Additionally, Mahmoud plays a vital role in leadership development. He is regarded as a preceptor and mentor for new managers, including those outside our department. His guidance helps shape future leaders and strengthens the overall leadership culture within the organization.
He is also highly respected for the way he advocates for his unit and stands firmly behind his staff, especially when challenges arise. Mahmoud
