During our 10-week journey through the ICU at Willowbrook and now the Med Center, we have been blessed to meet many wonderful nurses. Yet one stands out above the rest — Maggie. While my dad was sedated and intubated, Maggie went above and beyond to connect with him as a person, not just a patient. She asked us about his life and treated him with dignity, always speaking gently to him as she provided care. She reminded us that he was still seen and valued, even when he could not respond. Maggie also showed a rare balance of honesty and compassion. She never sugarcoated the reality of his condition, yet always delivered the truth with empathy and comfort, giving us strength during a terrifying time. Beyond her compassion, she is an exceptional nurse clinically. My dad consistently seemed to improve most on the days she cared for him. Her skill, attention to detail, and calm presence gave us peace and confidence. Maggie exemplifies the heart of nursing, and I can think of no one more deserving of the DAISY
