She was always on top of his vitals, and, most importantly, she offered kindness and a safe place for us as we were going through the most tragic event imaginable.
I am 19 years old. My boyfriend had a head injury while playing college basketball. It resulted in a severe concussion, seizures, and a brain bleed that has caused him to be brain-dead. We all got to the hospital late between 1 and 2 am. Madison was so kind and comforting. She clearly explained what was going on with him. I never felt out of the loop. She continued to offer us food, water, blankets, and anything she could think of. She took great care of him. She was always on top of his vitals, and, most importantly, she offered kindness and a safe place for us as we were going through the most tragic event imaginable. She made sure to come and talk to us before shift change, and assured us that she had requested us the next night, and she did. Shelbie Wells is the day-shift nurse who has been caring for him. She brought in a bunch of water and snacks without telling us. When I realized, we thanked them.

They have been generous to let us have visitors in and out. He is currently on his last day alive. The blood pressure wouldn’t stay up, and Madison was kind enough to push me in the reclining chair into the hall for imaging/new IV med hookups. They let me and his mom sleep at both bedsides without complaint. At shift change, Madison came into the room; I was holding his hand, crying, and she told me she was praying. She said this could not be left at work and gave his mom her number since it was her last shift. I am just so thankful for the care he and our family have received here.
