Whenever Maddie was working, she brought a brightness to the unit and always had a positive upbeat energy.
I met Maddie last winter. She was always so supportive and made such an effort to get to know me as a person, not just a patient. She was always available to talk and offer extra support when I was struggling. Whenever she was working, she brought a brightness to the unit and always had a positive upbeat energy. When I was discharged, she was working on a different unit, but she made a point to tell me goodbye and wish me well. It made me sad to have to tell her goodbye because she had been such a good nurse to me.

I returned to Sanford in June. The day I was admitted Maddie was working on PHP and I was on inpatient. Maddie made time to come over and visit me and check-in to see how I was doing. I was fortunate she was working a lot on inpatient while I was there. The thing about Maddie that always comes to mind is how much she loves her job. Never once did she complain that she was tired even when she had to stay late and cover another shift. Maddie was always upbeat and available to help make sure all your needs were met. She always made mealtimes more pleasant, reading us horoscopes and playing games and keeping us distracted. She was an advocate for getting our fresh air time and always was giving 110%. Once again, I feel like she really got to know me as a person, not just a patient and that brought me a lot of comfort. I will truly miss her and all she did for me.
