My mom was admitted to RGH for a stroke and was at the hospital for over a week.  Maddy Rounds was assigned to my mom almost every day. On the days that she was not assigned to my mom, Maddy always checked in on her, brought her little extras, and made a scary situation much better.

Maddy took time to talk with us and my mom constantly. My mom had to go to rehab after the hospital, and she wasn't thrilled about it. Maddy explained what it was going to be like and made my mom feel at ease. My mom was scared to go down for her 3rd CT scan, so Maddy took her herself with another Nurse and allowed me to go with her.  This made my mom feel so much better about why they had to do an additional scan!

Maddy always asked my mom if she needed anything or had any questions.  She knew my mom wouldn't eat any of the hospital food and had a bad stomach the entire time she was in the hospital.  Maddy would bring her ice cream because that was the only thing she would eat!  We will never forget Maddy and her kindness towards my mother and our family!  We nicknamed Maddy "Sug," short for "Sugar," because she was so sweet!

Thank you, Madeline, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
