Mackenzi Stackhouse, RN

Hands down, Mackenzi Stackhouse is one of the best nurses we have ever encountered. During one of the hardest moments our family has ever experienced, she went above and beyond in every possible way. My uncle was in the ICU, and she cared for him with incredible compassion, dignity, and respect. She wasn’t just one of his nurses; she became a source of comfort for our entire family. She took the time to talk with us, answer every question with patience, and make sure my uncle was comfortable throughout every step of his transition to hospice care.

The moment that will stay with us forever was when Mackenzi held my uncle's hand as the ventilator was removed. That simple act of kindness showed us that she truly cared about him as a person, not just as a patient. She remained by his side, ensuring he was peaceful and comfortable, while also checking on our family and offering reassurance during an unimaginable time. Her compassion, professionalism, and genuine love for her patients were evident in everything she did. She made an unbearable situation just a little easier, and that is something our family will never forget. She is the kind of nurse every family hopes to have during life's most difficult moments. Mackenzi truly embodies the heart of nursing and everything the DAISY Award represents. Our family will forever be grateful for the extraordinary care and compassion she showed my uncle, and we cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition.
