I am a young breast cancer patient. And was diagnosed a year after my sister. I changed health care systems to come to UCSD because of the care I saw my sister receive from Lynne. And when it was my turn, I was fortunate enough to be under her care and experience the same kindness she gave to my sister during her journey. Being diagnosed with cancer at a young age is devastating and lonely, but Lynne really made it feel like I wasn't alone and showed me I wasn't alone with her actions. I was not just another number; I was a human under her care.

I've also worked in healthcare for the last decade and have never come across a nurse like Lynne. She humanized my experience, calmed my fears, held space for my tears, and I never had to worry that I would not be taken care of, even at the worst of times during my treatment. She was so on top of it, I never had to worry about my care, my prescriptions, or appointments. I can confidently say that my journey to cancer wouldn't have been the same without Lynne.

Nursing is not just a job for her; it's a passion for her, and you can tell with every word, every action, and every reassurance she provides. I feel like crying as I type this because I am so full of gratitude for the care I received from Lynne. During my most vulnerable moments, she empowered me and reminded me that I was strong enough to get through it. Even when she is surrounded by sadness and cancer and patients who are not so happy, she does not let it affect her job.

I have never seen her upset. She walks around with a smile and brings light to the whole department. She is an extreme asset to the hospital, and I will forever refer to her as my angel for helping guide me through the darkest time in my life. She deserves praise and recognition. The world is better because she is in it.
