As a vascular access nurse, Lyndsey has to be so incredibly careful not to harm the patient, and Lyndsey takes that very seriously. She has been a strong advocate of atraumatic care through evidence-based practice.
The ANA Code of Ethics states, "Within the context of nursing practice, the nurse prioritizes recipients of nursing care, placing them over institutions. Every clinical encounter and plan of care reflects the fundamental commitment of nursing to the inherent dignity, worth, unique attributes, and human rights of the patient." Lyndsey McReynolds does this for every single patient that she sees.

As a vascular access nurse, Lyndsey has to be so incredibly careful not to harm the patient, and Lyndsey takes that very seriously. She has been a strong advocate of atraumatic care through evidence-based practice. For example, Lyndsey often educates nurses and providers on appropriate techniques to insert PICC lines and ultrasound-guided peripheral intravenous lines. She has also introduced technology that decreases risk to the patient by limiting the number of x-rays that a patient requires, which decreases their radiation exposure.

She stays up to date on best practices in her area, which aligns with provision 7 of the code of ethics. She has also written policies and procedures that help our organization limit harm to patients through vascular access, which aligns with provision 9. I believe that harm has been prevented to many patients because Lyndsey is such a strong advocate for maintaining the highest standard of vascular access care in our organization.
