Lucy is the manager of my unit W2300. She is more than just a manager; she is a friend, motherly figure, and the best, most caring nurse I have ever worked with. She constantly puts her patients and staff first. When one of her staff members falls ill during the shift, she goes above and beyond to drive them home safely. She is so trustworthy, and I always know she has the best in mind for her unit. When a patient feels uncomfortable or has trouble adjusting to rehab, she always takes the time to sit down with them and go through their concerns. She will even get the patient’s own personal pillow just so they feel more comfortable sleeping through the night. Lucy is the embodiment of a nurse advocate for her patients and fellow nurses. She is always there for us, whether we need a hug or just to talk through a problem. So grateful for her, and I hope she feels appreciated every day.
