Lucinda has been a nurse for decades and has been in a nursing leadership position as a nurse supervisor at UVH for quite some time. Her contributions to our hospital can't be overstated. Despite her tenure, experience, and the fact that she has seen it all and done it all, Lucinda has a heart that is big enough and has the capacity to take it all in and genuinely care for every patient and caregiver as though they were her own son, daughter, mother, or father.

Lucinda comes to administration whenever she has done everything she can to help someone out, but hits a roadblock that she can't get over. Instead of throwing the towel in and consigning herself to a less-than-ideal answer or outcome, Lucinda appropriately but passionately advocates for others and truly cares about each individual. No one is just a number to Lucinda. Most patients and caregivers don't see or understand the work that goes on behind the scenes as Lucinda advocates on their behalf, or even that she is the one doing that legwork, but the impacts are consequential and many times life-altering.

Lucinda is the embodiment of what it means to truly be a "caregiver" - someone who provides care and always does so in an incredibly caring way. We're so grateful for Lucinda and for the example she sets of serving with empathy and caring for each patient, caregiver, and member with compassion and respect. Lucinda's actions inspire others to act in a similar way and serve as a constant reminder to all of us why we are in this great work.
