September 2026 Honoree
Loren Turner, BSN, RN
Loren’s extraordinary impact is reflected in the four DAISY Award nominations submitted by patients and families who experienced her care. Across each nomination, the same qualities stood out: her clinical expertise, attentive presence, strong advocacy, and genuine compassion. Patients and families described Loren as someone who makes people feel safe, comfortable, and cared for—even during frightening or rapidly changing situations.
She clearly explains medical conditions, medications, treatments, and next steps in a way that patients and families can understand. Her efficient assessments, communication, and clinical judgment were credited with helping patients recover and stabilize.
Loren also recognizes and responds to the unique needs of each person in her care. When caring for a child with autism, she thoughtfully accommodated his needs, listened closely to his family’s concerns, and helped his overwhelmed parent prepare questions for the physicians. She remained present during medical discussions, took notes, asked questions, and advocated for needs that might otherwise have gone unnoticed.
Another patient described how Loren’s kindness extended beyond immediate clinical care. When he struggled to obtain necessary wound-care supplies, she explored community resources that might help. Her compassion made such a lasting impression that he described Loren as a “best friend at the hospital.”
Whether she was answering questions, coordinating care, explaining complex information, or simply helping someone feel less alone, Loren consistently went above and beyond. Her nominators recognized not only her knowledge and professionalism, but also her positive energy, intellectual insight, love for nursing, and sincere concern for every patient.
Together, these four nominations paint a clear picture of an exceptional nurse whose care leaves a meaningful and lasting impact.
