We had a patient in the ER who had an aortic dissection and needed to be transferred to Stanford. There was no CCRT RN available and helicopter couldn't pick up due to heavy winds. Lizette not only reassured the patient's teenage children but also volunteered to transport the patient with AMR all the way to Stanford so the patient had a chance of survival.

We didn't have the resources to take care of a patient who was in this critical condition and needed emergent care. To me, that is a hero. She stepped up when nobody else could. She is an amazing nurse and coworker. I have worked here for 17 years and have never heard of anyone volunteering to transport such a critical patient.
