Liz worked directly with the nursing staff, the physicians in not only the assessment center but also in the clinic, the imaging staff, and in close conjunction with other team members to coordinate, care for, and ensure this patient not only received the care that she deserved but that she received care that was respectful, dignified, and of the caliber and quality that we provide here at Woman's Hospital.
Liz has served the mission of Woman's Hospital for many years. She has not only been an exemplary clinical nurse, but she is also an exemplary leader in her role as an administrative supervisor.

I have had the privilege of working alongside Liz in various capacities, as a bedside nurse, as a clinical nurse leader, and now, as a supervisor. In every capacity, her ability to care for patients shines through in everything she does. From every interaction to every decision that is made, she places the needs of the patient first and has a brilliant way of collaborating across multiple disciplines to ensure the needs of the patient are met.

While there are many instances where this shines through, there is one instance that I would like to highlight where Liz's exceptional leadership and ability to coordinate care provided a patient with care that she may not have received otherwise.

This patient arrived to us via EMS and required special accommodations. Many of the tests and procedures she required are typically done on an outpatient basis and not in the hospital. The easy answer would have been to send the patient home and follow up with an outpatient provider. However, Liz recognized that for this patient, if she did not receive the care during this visit, she very likely would not receive it at all.

The patient had a family history of breast cancer, needed imaging, and required some routine procedures and tests that could not be done at her provider's office due to accommodation challenges.

While I am nominating Liz for her amazing work in managing this patient's care, this is only one example of the incredible work that she does every single day to support our patients and our teams.

It is a pleasure to work alongside Liz. I am a better nurse for knowing Liz, and she has taught me so much in the time I have been able to lead alongside her. She is an icon and an asset to this organization, and we are so lucky to have her.
