She advocates and gives time and support to the patient and family, and she has provided us as a family with an advocate and support, even getting pain relief and a listening ear.
My mum was admitted from the emergency department after they found a spinal tumour during an MRI scan and was sent directly to the ED. During the almost 5 weeks my mum was admitted to the hospital, we were referred to varying hospitals and departments, many of which were unable to help and refused to biopsy or look at the tumour.

During this dark and fearful time, Lisa was a guiding light, fighting our corner and ensuring she was not discharged home without a plan in place for the next steps. She advocated for Mum with the medical and oncology team and made many referrals to varying hospitals to look at the tumour and to biopsy, and for the next steps. Without Lisa fighting our corner, we may well have been discharged and lost in the system.

We finally got accepted by Oxford, and a biopsy and the tumour have been removed. Lisa has fought for us as there is no pathway currently for the type and area Mum’s tumour is. I think she deserves more than just a Daisy award. She advocates and gives time and support to the patient and family, and she has provided us as a family with an advocate and support, even getting pain relief and a listening ear. She is an absolute asset to NGH. As a Trust, you are lucky to have staff like her
