Lisa McMillon, RN
It is my privilege to nominate Ms. Lisa McMillon for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to both our Veterans and her coworkers. Ms. Lisa consistently goes above and beyond, even when she has a full workload. She always greets everyone with a warm smile, maintains a positive attitude, and helps wherever she is needed. Her kindness and professionalism never waver, even during the busiest and most stressful shifts.
One example that truly reflects her selfless nature occurred during an especially hectic shift. I was changing the bed linens for a high fall-risk patient when Ms. Lisa noticed I needed help. Without being asked, she immediately gathered the clean sheets and supplies I needed, so I could focus on safely caring for the patient. Her ability to anticipate her coworkers' needs is remarkable, and she consistently steps in before anyone has to ask for help. On another occasion, Ms. Lisa recognized that one of my patients required frequent repositioning to maintain comfort and prevent pressure injuries. Because she knew the patient’s needs, she took the initiative to help turn and reposition the patient, ensuring they were comfortable and well cared for. Her proactive approach improved the patient's comfort and demonstrated true teamwork and patient advocacy. Ms. Lisa has earned the trust and admiration of our Veterans and their families. Patients and family members frequently ask for her because they know she will treat them with kindness, dignity, and respect. She makes every Veteran feel valued and cared for, taking the time to ensure they are comfortable and that their needs are met. Families often express appreciation for her genuine compassion and dedication.
Ms. Lisa exemplifies compassionate nursing care every day. She supports her teammates without hesitation, provides exceptional care to our Veterans, and creates a positive environment through her caring attitude and willingness to help others. Her actions remind us that extraordinary care often comes from simple acts of kindness, compassion, and teamwork. For these reasons, I wholeheartedly nominate Ms. Lisa McMillon for the DAISY Award. She truly embodies the spirit of the award through her outstanding service, compassion, and dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our Veterans, their families, and her fellow staff members.
