I was heading in for surgery, in immense pain, with no insurance, with my three-year-old son. She had helped to calm my nerves and reassured me at every step. Not only did she go above and beyond as a nurse, but she also went out of her way to reassure my son, even giving him stuffed animals and juice to keep him calm and relaxed. Afterward, when the surgery failed, she helped to comfort me and ensure I would be comfortable. She had reached out in the week between that surgery and the next to ensure that I was doing okay, even though that was not her job. At my next surgery, even though she was not my Pre Op nurse, she brought a toy my son had forgotten earlier, along with a present, since I had the surgery a week after my birthday. She came and checked on me before and after my surgery to ensure that I was feeling okay, and my anxiety was low. Also, make sure to remind me about the nausea patch that helped me with anesthesia during the first surgery. As someone who has not had a positive experience with the medical system, she truly made the entire experience brighter. I can not say enough good things about LJ. If anyone deserves this award, it is her, truly the best nurse I have experienced in my entire life.
