Lisa is a dedicated professional who tirelessly works to improve care across Corewell Health West (CHW). As the orthopedic Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), she frequently rounds on the unit, bringing candy and a willingness to listen to concerns about both the unit and our personal lives. Every conversation with Lisa leaves me feeling heard, understood and cared for. Her communication skills are unparalleled, making her a standout among her peers. Her demeanor encourages you to listen, learn, and take action. Her extensive knowledge spans pain management, orthopedics, and many other areas. Lisa has played a crucial role in unifying policies across CHW, always considering both patients and staff. Her work with pain management has helped reduce the number of opioids we are sending home with patients while still providing effective pain management.

I have witnessed her influence bring about significant positive changes, enhancing care for all. Within the orthopedic department, she has done a lot of work to improve standards of care, reduce readmissions, and reduce complications. Her work in this area has spanned from OR to discharge work. She provides education on updated literature to all it applies to and pushes others to challenge current practices to improve care for patients. Lisa exemplifies what it means to be a CNS: a lifelong learner dedicated to enacting change to improve care and practice. Having worked with Lisa in various settings, I am incredibly grateful to be her colleague. She inspires us to be better, do better, and strive for the highest standards.
