Thank you, Lisa, for being an outstanding nurse and person.
Words are not enough to describe the professionalism, compassion, and knowledge Lisa has shown me. She didn’t judge me in any way (being an addict). She showed me respect and dignity.

One night in the wee hours of the morning, I made the mistake of looking at “My WellSpan Portal”. I was crushed by the test results. A 62-year-old grown man crying because I knew that I was going to die in about 8 weeks. The pain was unbearable; I couldn’t breathe.

She saw this and took the time to read the results on her computer and, in Layman’s terms, expressed the facts about my results and assured me that I misunderstood what I was reading. The knowledge of what she knew as a nurse had me in awe!

I have a son with Down syndrome who is 20 years old. We are closer than anyone I know. The pain and tears were and are for him. He needs his daddy!
He waits for me at the window, looking out to see me pull in the driveway. He comes running out the door most times, hugging and kissing me.

Lisa gave me hope; she went above and beyond her call of duty. Her words washed away my tears. 10 hours into her shift, she saw a patient who needed to be comforted. Anybody can do the mechanical part of their job, but not everybody can or will give a patient non-judgmental and compassionate care like Lisa.

In basketball, it’s "Be like Mike", a saying referring to Michael Jordan, the best that ever played the game. In nursing, I say, “Be like Lisa.” She’s the GOAT of nursing. Greatest of all time!

Thank you, Lisa, for being an outstanding nurse and person. We will hopefully meet again in better circumstances.
