Linette kept the family informed, made my mother comfortable, and advocated directly for my mother's needs.
Linnette, as a long-term employee in the coronary care unit, was able to care for my mother safely, diligently, and professionally when my mother was unstable due to post-cardiac stent complications. She was one-on-one with my mother for well over an hour to stabilize her bleeding groin, placing direct pressure on the sites despite having two Angioseal closure devices placed on both her right and left groin insertion sites. I can only assume she had one, perhaps two other patients in critical care. Linette kept the family informed, made my mother comfortable, and advocated directly for my mother's needs. I felt comfortable knowing my mother was well cared for during this transition period of being unstable to stable. All that said, it was the overwhelming kindness and support that I am recognizing and nominating Linette for a Daisy award. It was her personal touch - the extra blankets, the repositioning, the managing of a large Lebanese family who were concerned for the 92-year-old matriarch of the family that must be addressed. This is the art of nursing, not the skill of nursing. Yes, the skill of nursing saves patients' lives each and every day, but it is the art of nursing that people remember, and what everyone wants at the end of the day is kindness and genuine care. Linette was able to provide this to both her patient and her patient's family!
