I am writing to enthusiastically nominate Lindsey for the DAISY Award in recognition for her exceptional dedication, compassion, and professionalism as a nurse. She is one of those rare individuals who combines clinical excellence with genuine human connection. It can be incredibly demanding on our unit, both physically and emotionally, but she meets every challenge with grace, empathy, and unwavering focus on her patients’ well-being. She consistently goes the extra mile – not because it’s expected, but because it’s simply who she is.
One patient in particular stands out to me when I think of her impact. This patient had suffered a TBI and was unable to communicate verbally. Many caregivers may have seen limitations, but she saw potential in her patients. She worked tirelessly to learn the patient’s nonverbal cues, engaged the family to understand his background and preferences, and customized her care in a way that made him feel truly seen and respected. Over time, we watched small but meaningful improvements that brought hope to his family and inspiration to our entire team. She brings that same commitment to every patient and every shift.
She’s calm in a crisis, deeply knowledgeable in her clinical practice, and always ready to support her teammates. Whether she’s mentoring a new nurse or simply offering a kind word on a hard day, she helps create a work environment that is not only efficient, but also deeply compassionate. I truly believe that she embodies the values of the DAISY Award and represents the very best of nursing. She makes a lasting difference in the lives of her patients and everybody lucky enough to work bedside her.
