She cared for our baby as if he was her own. She always knew what he needed and how he was doing at all times. Lindsay also made us feel listened to and personally cared for with how clearly she communicated all the details of his care during shift change.
It is with great pleasure that I nominate Lindsay from the NorthBay NICU department for the DAISY Award. Our baby was born at 34 weeks and was immediately admitted to the NICU, where he stayed for 19 days. My husband and I visited every day, had the best experience with the entire NICU team, and want to acknowledge Lindsay’s exceptional service and care.

Lindsay’s knowledge of taking care of babies and ability to relate and communicate with parents was outstanding. She patiently and kindly taught us how to feed our baby so that he could take breathing breaks, how to change him with tubes and leads attached, and the reasons for the care that they were providing him. Additionally, she was present every time the doctor came to speak with us to advocate for our desires, answer any questions, and make sure that we understood what was happening with O.

Lindsay went above and beyond her duty as a nurse, making sure we felt safe and comfortable leaving O in the NICU. She cared for our baby as if he was her own. She always knew what he needed and how he was doing at all times. Lindsay also made us feel listened to and personally cared for with how clearly she communicated all the details of his care during shift change. Lindsay was so thorough that we never felt the need to confirm, repeat or check in with the new staff regarding O’s plans for treatment. We knew our baby was in the safest and best care possible, leaving him in the NICU.

Lindsay goes above and beyond as a NICU nurse. Not only does she eagerly help any baby and staff member who needs assistance, but she also volunteers her personal time for the benefit of the babies and their families. I will always cherish the keepsakes she made for us. Lindsay actively gathered and made props for pictures, capturing newborn photos and footprints of our baby for us. She was extremely professional, making sure no personal information was displayed, and extremely generous with her time and resources. I also saw her bring in toys, books, and clothes to donate to the babies in the NICU.

We are so thankful for Lindsay's care for us and our baby. She deserves to be recognized for her humble service, professionalism, compassion, and personal sacrifices as a NICU nurse for NorthBay Health.
