Ms. DeVole has worked closely with her management team to develop and improve a culture of enhanced knowledge and skill for delivering care to the female Veterans in the Lexington VA Emergency Department.
I would like to nominate Ms. Linda DeVole for the DAISY Award for Nurses. Ms. DeVole has demonstrated great commitment to serving women Veterans at the Lexington VA Emergency Department. She has worked hard and shown deep dedication to ensuring the Emergency Department is equipped to care for the female Veteran that seeks treatment when in crisis and in non-crisis situations.

Ms. DeVole has helped create an educational women's health wall for the departmental staff, constructed a pelvic exam toolbox, provided educational signs for clean catch urine procedures, obtained a disposable breast pump for lactating women Veterans, reviewed requirements and followed up on work orders placed for feminine hygiene product dispensers in all bathrooms, while also, preparing a specific room in the Emergency Department to care for women's health issues. Ms. DeVole has worked closely with her management team to develop and improve a culture of enhanced knowledge and skill for delivering care to the female Veterans in the Lexington VA Emergency Department.

Recently, the Emergency Department had a National site visit from the ACHIEVE women's health team to evaluate the facility's women's health strengths and opportunities for improvement. Due to Linda's work, the Emergency Department was not only very well prepared for this site visit, but the ACHIEVE team also took with them the best practices from our facility to share with other facilities. Ms. DeVole has demonstrated excellence in her pursuit of providing the highest quality of care for the growing population of women veterans. As a result of her determination and dedication, the Lexington VA Emergency Department is knowledgeable and better prepared to triage and care for female veterans and/or female humanitarians who seek care.
