Liesl has championed open communication and transparency, ensuring that both staff and patients feel heard, respected, and safe.
It is with great admiration and respect that I nominate Liesl Hall-Grant for recognition of her outstanding contributions as the Director of Risk Management, Privacy, and Patient Safety at Mercy Hospital. Often the first one in and the last one to leave, she has demonstrated unwavering commitment to improving patient safety, enhancing transparency, and strengthening accountability across every level of care.
Liesl has brought a clear vision and tireless dedication to risk management. She has worked relentlessly to foster a culture where safety is not just a policy but a shared value. Through her engagement and initiatives, she has not only addressed immediate safety concerns but has also greatly contributed to sustainable frameworks for long-term improvement. Under her leadership, incident reporting has increased—not due to more problems, but because of the trust she has built in the process and the support she offers to every staff member.
Liesl has championed open communication and transparency, ensuring that both staff and patients feel heard, respected, and safe. Her approach has encouraged honest dialogue and learning from adverse events, which has significantly reduced repeated incidents and improved clinical outcomes.
Most notably, she holds everyone to the highest standards of accountability—not through fear or blame, but by inspiring a collective sense of responsibility. Her guidance has been both firm and fair, and she consistently leads by example.
Through her energy, integrity, and compassion, Liesl has become a cornerstone of our hospital's commitment to excellence in care. We are safer, stronger, and more united because of her leadership, and I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition.
