I wasn’t even technically a patient at that time, and she could’ve just gone about her break. Instead, she went above and beyond, out of a caring heart, to come help me.
While walking into St Francis Hospital with my husband at my side, I was beginning to have a contraction. I thought to myself, please don’t have a strong one, or else I won’t be able to walk in. Wouldn’t you know that as soon as I crossed the road, the strongest contraction hit me. I stopped in my tracks not knowing how I was even going to get in the hospital.

All of a sudden, I see someone coming to me outside the hospital with a wheelchair. I thought, “There’s no way this is for me,” because who would go out of their way like that? I was a pretty good distance from the front door! And sure enough, here comes this nurse going completely out of her way on her lunch break to care for me. She expressed that she saw me from a window and acted on it.

I wasn’t even technically a patient at that time, and she could’ve just gone about her break. Instead, she went above and beyond, out of a caring heart, to come help me. She was a literal angel in that moment. She helped me in the wheelchair and wheeled me all the way up to triage to ensure we went to the right place. She is such a huge part of our birth story and an incredible experience!

Thank you, Libby, for going quite literally out of your way, out of the hospital, to rescue us!
