Beyond her knowledge, Liana’s character makes her truly special. She is very polite, respectful, kind, and always professional.
I would like to take a moment to sincerely show my appreciation for our charge nurse, Liana. I truly believe she is an outstanding nurse, and I feel lucky every time I get a chance to work with her. Liana stands out because she is not only very smart and knowledgeable but also incredibly supportive. Whenever I have an admission, transfer, or discharge, she is right there to help and guide me through the process. She always makes sure things are done smoothly and correctly, which gives me a lot of confidence. I feel safe and reassured knowing she oversees resources because she has such strong clinical skills and knows exactly what she is doing.
Beyond her knowledge, Liana’s character makes her truly special. She is very polite, respectful, kind, and always professional. She treats everyone with fairness and compassion, and she creates a very positive atmosphere in the unit. She checks in on staff regularly, offers help without hesitation, and makes sure no one feels left out or unsupported. Her presence makes the team stronger, and she sets an example of how a charge nurse should lead with both skill and kindness. Personally, I feel very happy and comfortable when I am on shift with her. She creates a safe, welcoming environment where we can do our jobs well and feel supported. I am sure many others on the team feel the same way about her; she is not only a great nurse, but also a wonderful colleague and a genuinely good person.
***
I was Liana's hiring manager, and it was very apparent to me that she was very smart, kind, and a good fit for 7B, the Hematology-Oncology Unit. As she worked on the unit, I found out she was a perfectionist and sometimes, her own harshest critic. As we all know, being a perfectionist in Nursing can be a good and bad thing. However, as she assumed more responsibilities, such as charge nurse, preceptor, and pursuing her formal education, I noticed she became more flexible and stronger as a leader. She is still very passionate about providing excellent care to our patients, as well as working as a team and being fair to her colleagues. I've seen Liana lead unit-wide initiatives to decrease CAUTI and CLABSIs, and she has critical conversations with her colleagues when she acts as charge nurse. I see her growing as a leader in Nursing every day.
Congratulations Liana! I'm very proud of you, and it's been a pleasure to see you grow in your profession as a nurse!
