She arranged the whole thing and stayed with the son past the end of her shift so he could spend some time with his mom.
Lexy was floating on a very busy day. Towards the end of the day, the patient was going to transition to comfort care. The patient was the primary caregiver to an adult son with cerebral palsy who was admitted with pneumonia. The moment the nurse learned that the patient would be in comfort care, she immediately reached out to the son's nurse to arrange a visit. The nurse offered to bring the son down on a monitor to stay with him so he could see his mom before she died. She arranged the whole thing and stayed with the son past the end of her shift so he could spend some time with his mom. She said she could not bear the thought of the mom dying without getting to see her baby
