Leigh Leigh is the type of nurse who won't let her patient slack off and fade away to nothing. She will push them to get better and help them any way she can.
Leigh Ann affectionately known to me as Leigh Leigh, is the coworker you always want to see on the schedule when you are working!
Leigh Leigh, like a lot of nurses on the 3rd floor is new to critical care nursing and she is my favorite type of nurse! When the transition to turn the 3rd floor into more critical care beds, she was apprehensive about working with CCU patients, although we knew she would be fine. Her fears are her strengths! She is ready to seek advice or a second opinion whenever she needs, and she is incredibly receptive to education and learning opportunities from other nurses. She is truly an asset to critical care nursing at Southeast.
There are plenty of stories I can comment on about Leigh Leigh, but one patient instantly comes to mind. We had a long term patient on the 3rd floor for many months. He had suffered strokes and had an intellectual disability. He was intubated multiple times, suffered many, many close calls, and spent a very long time (months) with us weaning down his oxygen demand and wearing a trach collar.
He was a patient of no words, very little head movements, as in yes or no, and he was not shy to let you know he was not happy with you.
However, one nurse, Leigh Leigh, was the light of his life! She spent so much time with him, encouraging him, caring for him, reassuring him, and entertaining him! One day I was taking care of the gentleman and we had a good report he was receptive to me and would communicate most of the time with me. But man, when you would tell him Leigh Leigh was working, you knew for sure that his EAR to EAR grin was a true reaction! They were a great pair to watch. Leigh Leigh is the type of nurse who won't let her patient slack off and fade away to nothing. She will push them to get better and help them any way she can. Any patient is blessed to have her watch over them.
On a side note, as a co-worker, she is the best. There is no laugh in all of Southeast Health that can have me in stitches, even on my worst days, more than Leigh Leigh's laugh. She is a joy to work with and brightens everyone's lives on the 3rd floor!
