we felt comfortable and confident that he, with the support of the amazing doctors, was doing absolutely everything they could to help my grandad.
My grandad was admitted to the ITU unit, and he was cared for incredibly by nurse Lee Watkins. From the moment my grandma and I met Lee, we felt comfortable and confident that he, with the support of the amazing doctors, was doing absolutely everything they could to help my grandad.
Lee displayed kindness and compassion to all; I did not see him sit down. He was always busy and on the go. He recognized when he needed to talk to us—when we felt scared or nervous. He explained things clearly. Being a nurse myself, maybe it made me a bit too aware of what was going on, but Lee always took the time.
My grandma still reflects on how she is so glad my grandad's final days were cared for in the ITU unit, especially by Lee. Lee displayed humor and honesty and is a credit to the amazing team.
We thank him and the rest of the team for supporting my family and, of course, supporting my grandad to live his last few days with dignity. That is all we could ask for.
