I was lucky to have Leah as my nurse every day that I was in the hospital.
I was a patient on Med/Surg after my Lumbar Spine surgery. From the moment Leah came into my room, I could tell she was going to be a great nurse. She had a huge smile on her face, and that smile was on her face every single time she came into my room. After talking for a little bit of time, I found out that Leah was a pretty new nurse, just getting her first RN job about a month or so ago. I was not able to tell that she was a new nurse, as she encompassed skill and compassion.
When I would push my call button, Leah would be there in such a short period of time, and my needs were always taken care of in a timely manner. There was a time when my husband was gone, and Leah could tell that I was not feeling great, and she took a few extra minutes, and she just stood next to the bed and talked to me, and she made me feel taken care of and like I mattered, and she got me to get my mind off the pain that I was feeling. She always seemed to have a sense of knowing when a patient needed a few minutes or two of her time, and she gave it, even though that might have meant that she would have to work a few extra minutes. I was lucky to have Leah as my nurse every day that I was in the hospital.
