I always feel safe when Leah is around, and I appreciate her presence immensely.
Leah has been an incredible resource, mentor, and someone I look up to throughout my first year as a new grad nurse in the Children’s CICU. Even though she is not my mentor on paper, she inspires me. Whenever Leah is working, she offers constant support through checking in, answering my questions, and addressing complicated defects and outcomes.
During my first chest closure, Leah explained how the procedure would go and stayed in the room with me while I performed the RN1 duties, offering her support and constructive criticism to help me become a better nurse.
When witnessing my first code, Leah was the charge nurse and handled the emergency flawlessly. Leah is strong, firm when needed, organized, clear, and calm during emergencies. I always feel safe when Leah is around, and I appreciate her presence immensely.
Leah makes our unit a better place each day through prioritizing patient safety and nursing support. Each week, Leah emails our unit about practices that help our CICU become a better place for our patients and families.
I aspire to be the nurse Leah exemplifies, and use her actions to guide my practice. Thank you for everything, Leah. You have a tremendous impact on our unit and are an inspiration to many.
