I am submitting this nomination on behalf of the family of a patient in our ICU who was a donor candidate. The family sent me an email commending Leah specifically for her excellent care of their son during a very difficult time. Leah was compassionate, attentive, empathetic, and exceedingly kind to this family during one of the most difficult moments of their lives. She cared for this patient multiple shifts in a row and built a relationship with the family and patient that helped them in navigating a huge life event. She was patient in answering their many questions and made herself available for any needs they had. On the patient’s day of procurement, Leah came in on her day off to go with the patient to the OR, and the family felt this dedication to her work as an ICU nurse and to their son was commendable and something they greatly appreciated.

Leah, thank you so much for your incredible service to this patient and their family. Expertly caring for a complex and critically ill patient is admirable, but being able to do so while also providing intentional, compassionate care for their family is absolutely exceptional.
