I have had the honor of getting to know and work alongside Lauryn over the past four years. She is truly the kindest person I know, and her compassion is reflected in her nursing care.

The MICU had a unique patient in the unit for an extended period with a medical condition that required special equipment and treatment modalities. During this admission, Lauryn was their nurse for many shifts and developed a strong rapport and bond with the family. This bond was so strong that the family would specifically ask for Lauryn to be their loved one’s nurse, and they would light up when they saw her.

Lauryn fiercely advocated for the patient and the family and went above and beyond when the patient needed extra support through instances of respiratory distress. She was able to be the patient’s nurse on their last day in the MICU before they were discharged home. The patient had come full circle, with Lauryn wheeling them out of the unit and cheering the patient on. The family was beyond grateful for our unit’s care and the compassion and care Lauryn delivered during each of her shifts with them.

I don’t think there could have been a better nurse for this patient, as Lauryn brought the family a sense of peace during this difficult time in their lives. I am so honored to have the privilege of having Lauryn as a colleague as well as a friend.
