September 2026 Honoree
Lauryl Johnson, MSN, RN, CRRN
I am honored to nominate Lauryl Johnson for the DAISY Award. Lauryl exemplifies every quality the DAISY Foundation seeks to recognize: compassion, clinical excellence, advocacy, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of both patients and staff. Lauryl strives for excellence within our team and consistently elevates the outcomes we provide to our patients. She is deeply committed to strengthening staff competence and confidence, continuously seeking new and innovative ways to deliver education that is meaningful, engaging, and accessible. Her approach builds foundations of trust, empowers team members at all levels, and creates an environment where learning is encouraged and celebrated.
Recognizing a need to enrich our culture with positivity, Lauryl created “Caught Ya in a Mission Moment,” an anonymous recognition platform that has become profoundly impactful. This initiative allows staff to uplift and acknowledge one another in a heartfelt, authentic way. Many team members have been moved to tears by the kind, sincere messages they receive messages that remind them their work matters, that they are seen, and that they are valued. Lauryl doesn’t just send out these recognitions; she turns them into memorable moments. She delivers each one personally, often with music, a theme, or a creative touch that fills the room with joy. She ensures that the staff member being recognized feels like the most important person in the room. Her efforts foster a culture of belonging, pride, and compassion, one that radiates through every interaction with our patients. She is a tireless advocate for both her team and the individuals we serve.
Lauryl pours her energy into creating a culture of scholarly inquiry, positivity, and excellence, encouraging staff to grow not only in skill but in spirit. Her leadership is felt every day. Her commitment is palpable. The impact she makes on morale, patient care, and our shared culture is extraordinary. For her innovation, compassion, dedication, and the heartfelt humanity she brings to nursing, Lauryl embodies the true spirit of the DAISY Award. We are grateful for her leadership, her vision, and the way she continuously inspires all of us to be better for each other and for our patients. With deep appreciation and admiration, I nominate Lauryl Johnson for the DAISY Award.
