Lauren is an exceptional nurse and a beautiful person inside and out!
Our baby, L, was admitted for RSV and Lauren was our nurse for a day. She went way out of her way to make both him and us comfortable. She worked so diligently making sure L was comforted any time he was upset and had several suggestions for ways to help him be comfortable while he was being treated. She was extremely compassionate and listened to all our concerns.
She went to find L a mobile and toys to play with to make him happier. Even when she had finished her shift, before she left the hospital, she came in to check on L. Her care and compassion for our baby at such a tough time means the world to us. All of our Covenant PICU nurses were excellent, but Lauren stood out as the best nurse we had. Even when my parents came to visit and stayed with L for a few hours, they were telling us what a wonderful nurse Lauren was to L. Thank you for taking such great care of our baby!

My son K has been in the hospital for over 3 weeks with a severe respiratory infection. He was intubated and even on the oscillator for a while. Fortunately, he recovered enough to be able to go from the PICU to the Pediatric floor. I mentioned to Lauren that I was excited to be able to give K a real bath and wash his hair when we got home, and she made it a priority to give him a very good bath even though he couldn't have a normal one in the tub. She was so gentle and had the best setup.
After giving him the best scrubbadub, she had me cozy him up in a blanket in my lap and hold his head over the side of the bed so she could actually wash his hair with real soap and water. His little eyes closed, and his eyebrows raised in pure relaxation and delight. I can't describe the joy and gratitude in my mama heart to see my sweet son, who had been through so much and had only experienced variations of pain and discomfort for the past 3 weeks, to be treated like a little prince and enjoy every second of it.
Also, any nurse who is willing to go to a different area to help other people out deserves an award in my book. She's from Canada and came all the way to Texas to help us. That's pretty cool! Lauren is an exceptional nurse and a beautiful person inside and out!
