During one of the hardest moments of my life, having Lauren supporting me through the roller coaster of emotions was a blessing.
Not only did Lauren go above and beyond with her delivery of care but she is the definition of what a DAISY represents. The definition of a DAISY is a nurse “demonstrating extraordinary compassion, courage, and integrity in their patient care, and is a symbol of the profound impact they have made on patients, families, and colleagues”. To say Lauren represented all of these qualities is a vast understatement. I was admitted to the hospital for the flu and a potential miscarriage. Being a nurse myself, I knew what to expect and what proper protocol for my circumstances was. The care I received from Lauren and the doctor was extraordinary. They made me feel comfortable and safe every step of the way. They explained to me what procedures they would like to perform to see the status of my baby while rehydrating me from being sick with the flu. When Lauren came in with the doctor to inform me my baby had no heartbeat, they both held me while I held my husband's hand and sobbed. I of course believed it was my fault that we lost the baby. Lauren made sure that I was aware that nothing I did caused the miscarriage, and in no way, shape, or form was it my fault. Lauren went above and beyond her duty as my nurse. She not only cared for me but also cared for my husband, who has a history of fainting during emotional moments. During one of the hardest moments of my life, having Lauren supporting me through the roller coaster of emotions was a blessing. I will always be thankful for her and appreciative of her kindness, as well as her amazing exemplary quality of care.
My husband and I will never forget the kindness shown to us during one of the hardest moments of our lives. Thank you, Lauren Wills, for being such an amazing nurse.
