Typing this brings me back to one of the scariest nights of my life as a parent, but also to the incredible hope, generosity, and compassion we received. My two-year-old was brought in after I believed he had gotten into his grandmother’s blood pressure medication, which was absolutely terrifying. That night, I felt like the worst mother in the world, but Lauren immediately reassured me that accidents happen, that I did the right thing, and that my son was in the right place, and that I had gotten him there quickly.
Lauren never once left my side or my son’s. He is usually very picky and not a fan of strangers, yet he absolutely adored her. She was amazing with him, making him smile during moments filled with panic and uncertainty. I truly don’t think I could have gotten through that night without her. She went above and beyond to keep my baby comfortable and to care for him without causing fear. Even through all his wiggles, she managed to keep his vitals on and administer the medication he needed. She even mixed the unpleasant medicine with chocolate milk so he could take as much as possible during the critical window we had.
There are not enough words to express my gratitude for Lauren and all of the nurses that night. They truly went above and beyond for both my son and me. I will never forget the care and compassion they showed during one of the most frightening moments of my life.

Thank you, Lauren, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
