The way she helped create keepsakes—her tiny footprints, photos, and the moments when I held her—are gifts I will cherish forever.
There are moments in life so heartbreaking that you never forget the people who stood beside you. For me, that person was Lauren Tiller. I recently endured the unimaginable—tragically losing my baby girl and having to go through labor and delivery while holding the weight of that grief. In a moment when I felt lost, terrified, and completely broken, Lauren became my steady ground.
From the very first moment she walked into my room, Lauren treated me with a level of compassion, dignity, and presence that went far beyond nursing care. She didn’t just perform tasks—she saw me, heard me, and helped me feel safe in a moment when nothing felt safe. She sat with me—truly sat—with so much patience and understanding, never rushing me, never stepping away even when the silence was heavy. Her presence meant everything. She explained every step of what was happening, gently and respectfully, giving me a sense of control when everything felt out of my control. She treated my baby with honor and tenderness, acknowledging her life and the depth of my love for her. The way she helped create keepsakes—her tiny footprints, photos, and the moments when I held her—are gifts I will cherish forever. She reminded me of my strength when I felt like I had none. She validated every tear, every fear, every emotion, and made sure I knew I wasn’t alone. She cared not just for me, but for my whole family, stepping in with reassurance, guiding us gently, and creating an environment filled with compassion during the darkest hours of our lives. Her emotional support extended far beyond clinical care. I can honestly say I could not have gotten through that day without her. She was the light in a moment that felt impossibly dark.
Lauren’s compassion was not something she switched on and off—it is clearly who she is. She held space for my grief with grace, empathy, and unwavering kindness. She helped make a traumatic experience just a little more bearable. She brought humanity into a moment when I felt shattered. I will forever remember how Lauren made me feel seen, supported, and cared for at a time when I felt I could barely breathe. She is more than a nurse to me—she is a part of my story, a part of my healing, and someone whose kindness I will never forget. There is no one more deserving of the DAISY Award than Lauren Tiller. Her compassion was extraordinary, her care was deeply patient-centered, and her presence made an indescribable difference in the darkest moment of my life.
