Her proactive approach to quality improvement helps identify areas for improvement, develop effective plans, and build caregiver competency.
Lauren joined the Edmond ER team as the supervisor three years ago. She quickly acclimated to the culture of Edmond and embraced her new role as a leader. Known for her knowledge, compassion, and dedication, Lauren has become a key figure in fostering both the individual success of caregivers and the overall success of the department and hospital. Lauren actively collaborates with fellow nurse supervisors and contributes to developing a new graduate orientation program, enriched with practical suggestions to enhance nursing practices. Additionally, she spearheaded a departmental skills day, uniting lead nurses and Dr. O to reinforce and revalidate critical ER skills that are less commonly utilized. In handling grievances—a notable challenge in the ER—Lauren consistently approaches each situation with understanding, empathy, and a commitment to resolution.
Recently, she demonstrated her unwavering dedication by addressing a patient's concerns about a specific lab test. Instead of simply explaining the test's unavailability, Lauren engaged with the lab manager, reviewed FDA specifications, and maintained frequent communication with the patient. Her diligence culminated in a heartfelt appreciation from the patient for the time and attention she devoted to resolving the issue. Lauren's efforts to support caregivers and providers in the ER are widely recognized and valued. Whether addressing staffing shortages, managing high patient acuity, or handling volume surges, Lauren provides essential assistance and leadership. Her proactive approach to quality improvement helps identify areas for improvement, develop effective plans, and build caregiver competency. Providers particularly value her constructive feedback on patient experiences and quality improvement.
Lauren's self-motivation and collaborative spirit continue to drive excellence within the Edmond ER, leaving a positive and lasting impact on both caregivers and patients. Lauren plays a pivotal role in the hospital's success by collaborating with the entire hospital leadership team to advance key initiatives. Her efforts ensure alignment across departments and foster effective execution of strategic goals. When the staff was asked to nominate candidates for the department's Nurse of the Year award, Lauren received two heartfelt submissions from caregivers. Although the category was for bedside nurses, the caregivers recognized and celebrated Lauren for her exceptional contributions as a nursing supervisor. They expressed their deep appreciation for her hard work and dedication, highlighting the positive impact she has had on their lives and on the department. Many of them shared that Lauren has been the best supervisor they have ever had.
