I begin by saying the biggest thank you to an exceptional and truly special mental health nurse on the Beaumont Ward at the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, Lauren Holcroft.

I really do not know where to begin. I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Lauren’s compassionate, sincere, and outstanding involvement and contribution to my care. Thank you so very much. I am sorry to say that without you, Lauren, I truly believe I would not be here writing this letter of gratitude today.

Lauren is both a truly special nurse and a remarkable person. She absolutely gave me her all throughout my time on the ward. Lauren would always recognize my silent struggles and pleas for help and would be there to support me through the darkness. With kindness and professionalism, she would offer me her hand for reassurance or a hug of hope. These seemingly small gestures were so deeply appreciated.

Thank you, Lauren, for your encouragement and delivery of hope on both the good days and the bad. Thank you for allowing me to express my pure vulnerability, for listening without judgment, and for providing such genuine and heartfelt care.

I would also like to share my appreciation for the time and dedication that Lauren so kindly gave me during my time on the ward. She would go above and beyond to provide support, staying after her shift, rescheduling her breaks, and making time to speak with me even on the busiest of days.

In addition, Lauren ensured the wellbeing of my family. She recognized that this was also a difficult time for them and provided appropriate care and support. Even something as simple as a smile or asking how they were doing was sincerely appreciated. The impact of this kindness goes beyond words.

Lauren truly gave her all to me and to others. It was always so evident what a hardworking, dedicated, and devoted nurse she is. She consistently worked to build a safe community of support and to ensure my best interests and wellbeing were always at the center of my care.

You really do have a heart of gold, Lauren. Thank you for being a guiding light, a ray of sunshine, a rainbow of hope in my darkness, and for being by my side every step of the way. Thank you for helping me to smile, and for the laughter and happy moments we shared together.

It really is the small things that mean so much and make the biggest difference.
