I was blessed to have a wonderful day nurse named Lauren. I expected excellent skilled nursing on this unit, and I wasn’t disappointed. My care could not have been better. However, I did not expect the level of patience and empathy that I received. I was not at my best after this surgery. Nothing seemed to make me comfortable for long. Lauren went out of her way to make me as comfortable as possible. She brought me ice cream and kept my ice water topped off to soothe my sore throat. She brought a great lunch tray long after meals were no longer being served. She brought warm blankets and kept trying different bed adjustments in an effort to try and make me more comfortable. Lauren popped in after, just to keep my spirits up. She treated me like family, and I was so blessed to have her.
