February 2018 Honoree
lauren dunlap, BSN, RN
There are so many things that Lauren did right. Lauren was always friendly and approachable. My mother was treated by Lauren approximately 4-5 shifts. She always treated her as if she was her loved one. Any questions we had, as a close family and always there, Lauren would give us honest answers and never appeared to be annoyed (we had a lot of questions). During the palliative care portion of my mother's stay, Lauren was not her nurse. She had patients on the other side of the unit. My mother required suctioning and her nurse was unavailable. Without questioning or stating, "she is not my patient," Lauren jumped right in. At one point during my mother's stay, Lauren had more than one patient while my mother was still on the heart balloon pump. My mother still got the same great care. Lauren would relay information to doctors as we had concerns arise. She also relayed the information to us as well. As bad as it was to lose my mother, I feel Lauren comforted our family as if she was losing someone as well, while still being 100% professional. Lauren Dunlap is a wonderful nurse!
Thank you, Lauren, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
