Even when her shift had ended, Lauren stayed to ensure a smooth and comforting transition of care—already having built a level of trust that felt more like friendship in less than 24 hours.
It is my honor to present this DAISY Award to a nurse who so beautifully embodies what this recognition stands for—extraordinary clinical skill, unwavering compassion, and the ability to profoundly impact the lives of patients and families.

Lauren Angeli was nominated three times for the incredible care she provided for her patients and their families. That is a remarkable accomplishment and speaks volumes about the consistency, authenticity, and depth of care she brings to every single person she cares for.

The common thread of all three nominations was the recognition of Lauren’s ability to make patients feel safe, seen, and genuinely cared for during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives.

One patient shared her experience of becoming a first-time mother at 40, while managing insulin-dependent diabetes—a time filled with both excitement and fear. She described arriving for induction unsure of what was to come, questioning whether her baby would be okay and whether her body could do what it needed to do.

The patient described that through the fog of pain, medication, and uncertainty, Lauren’s presence stood out. She didn’t just provide care—she was fully present. Every time Lauren entered the room, it felt as though she was her only priority. Even when her shift had ended, Lauren stayed to ensure a smooth and comforting transition of care—already having built a level of trust that felt more like friendship in less than 24 hours.

The next day, when her new baby required multiple bilirubin blood draws, Lauren offered to perform them, knowing she could provide comfort in a way that eased both the baby and the mother.

Lauren’s patient described her as an integral part of bringing her baby into the world. In another, her compassion and unwavering support are remembered as unforgettable during a life-changing moment. She is recognized not just for what she did—but for how she made her patients feel.

Another patient shared that they took a photo of Lauren holding their newborn for their baby’s scrapbook—where she will be the only non-family member included. Because to them, she was so much more than just their nurse.

That is the impact of extraordinary nursing.

Lauren, thank you for the compassion, presence, and excellence you bring to your patients every single day. Being nominated three separate times by three different patients is not just recognition—it is a reflection of the lives you have touched in a truly meaningful way.
