I do hope all the nurses at CRAH are as good as Laura – that would put them in the top 1% of all medical people I have had to deal with.
I had to visit the ER. I came in for a most painful and sensitive thing. I tried to just deal with the pain until Monday so I could see my PCP, but there was NO way I could take the pain anymore. Also, note I live with chronic pain, so my daily life is at a 5 on the pain scale. I came in crying as this pain was the second-worst pain I ever had since childbirth. My suffering this visit was due to a cyst on my lady bits- I could barely walk. So I was having to come to the ER with a most awkward and embarrassing/sensitive issue.
Everyone was super nice and helpful. However a nurse Laura stood out to me. She made sure I was super numb before the doctor (another angel!) went slicing down there Nurse Laura made me feel like this was normal which was awesome. She made me feel like I was thought of as a person- not just 'another patient'. I kept my dignity in a most undignified situation. I have had many, many medical encounters and this by far was the best nurse I have ever had the mischance (lol) to meet. I do hope all the nurses at CRAH are as good as Laura - that would put them in the top 1% of all medical people I have had to deal with. If it wasn't for COVID, I would bake some goodies myself to bring up there for y'all, but especially Laura. Laura rocks!
