For us, Laura is far more than a nurse; she is an anchor, an encourager, and a trusted companion.

Our daughter was admitted to the university hospital with unexplained symptoms and was ultimately diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. From that day on, we spent two weeks inpatient. The diagnosis completely shook our world, and I could barely manage to stay strong and confident for my daughter.

Laura walked with us through this difficult time and completely changed our lives. I have never encountered a professional who approaches her patients and their families with such genuine love and empathy. She quickly restored our daughter’s self-confidence by always taking her seriously, even though she was only five years old, and by explaining her illness in a way that empowered her to see it not as a limitation, but as something she could live with fully and confidently.

Laura took the time for every tear that fell and for every moment of overwhelm we experienced. She gave us security and strength when we needed it most, helping us to refocus on life again. When we were discharged, we soon realized there was simply no one like Laura. Despite living far away, we now travel every three months to Bonn for check-ups so our daughter can continue her care with her.

Laura’s support goes beyond medical care. She listens deeply, recognizes each family’s needs, and coordinates the right support at the right time, whether nutritional counseling, psychological help, or school guidance. Thanks to her, our daughter is confident, active, and ready to take on any challenge.

Laura radiates positivity and compassion. She is not only in the right place at the University Hospital, but she is a miracle for us.

Our “diabetes sunshine,” Laura, has been with us ever since my son’s diagnosis six years ago, when he was just five. From the very beginning, she took away his fear of needles, catheters, and everything else associated with diabetes.

With incredible calm and composure, she reassures both my child and me, a very anxious and exhausted mother, and eases our worries every time. She always has an open ear, patiently explains and trains us, comforts us in difficult moments, and is available whenever we need her, whether for medical questions, organizational help, or emotional support.

Through her kindness and dedication, she gives us the feeling that we are never alone. She is not only an outstanding nurse but also a remarkable person whose warmth, empathy, and tireless commitment make living with diabetes so much easier for our family.

Since my son’s diagnosis, our diabetes specialist nurse, Laura, has been by our side. She has repeatedly eased his fears, and ours, and has given me, as a father, the confidence that we can walk this path together.

What makes Laura truly special is not only her expertise but also her calm, patience, and ever-positive presence. She is cheerful, good-humored, and always takes part in my son’s laughter and fun, helping even the hardest moments feel lighter. Because of her, he actually looks forward to his clinic visits; he knows he’ll see her!

For us, Laura is far more than a nurse; she is an anchor, an encourager, and a trusted companion. We are endlessly grateful for her.
