My mom has Alzheimer's disease and several other health issues. Laura was the first nurse to really reassure me that my mom was going to be just fine at the SNF—by her words and actions. She continues to be such a caring and patient nurse with my mom and many of the residents I see her interact with. One day, when my mom needed assistance in the bathroom, Laura came in to help. She needed to have a complete change of clothes, which Laura did with such patience and compassion. I know my mom was really pleased with the respect in which she was treated; so much so that after Laura finished and left the room my mom asked me if she would be coming right back. I told her that Laura had other residents to care for and my mom said, "I wish she could stay with us, I just love her." That was unusual for my mom to say and I know she truly meant it. The nurses were very busy as there was COVID in the unit. Even though Laura was in and out as quick as possible, she still made my mom feel special. That is what I call an exceptional nurse.
