Laura has been caring for my mom for the past 6 months. There are many moments of care that happen each day while under Laura's care, but on this particular night, I had a sense that Mom might pass; she is DNR, was very weak, confused, fatigued, flushed, short of breath, and complained of chest pain. At 96 years old, I am trying to get ready for that moment, but on this night with these concerns, Laura held my mom's hand, spoke gently to her, helped her relax, and helped me too! If you knew Laura, you would know that her presence is comforting. She takes the concern head-on / directly and works to solve the problem. She acknowledged my concern quickly and compassionately and focused on the concern with discretion and professionalism. She directed staff to get her what she needed to assess the situation. She was quick to act but kind and gentle, so mom wasn't scared.
