April 2026 Honoree
Laura Berg, RN
Laura was one of our NICU nurses whom we got to see a few days in a row. Our baby was born with a small pneumothorax in one of his lungs, which brought him a short stay in the NICU.
While spending our few days in the NICU, Laura was constantly updating us on how things were going and explaining what we could expect from all the tests and procedures. Laura took the time to make sure we understood everything that was happening as well as our next steps. This went a long way towards easing my worry about not having a complication-free birth like we were expecting.
Laura also made sure that we were able to take part in as much of our baby’s care as possible. She set up his first bath for us and made sure we knew when it would be, so that we could help and always let us take his temperature and change his diapers.
Laura also was a big help in setting up my breastfeeding and pumping schedule. She was always so encouraging and praised my efforts to feed while my baby was being supplemented with a feeding tube.
My husband and I can really tell that Laura cares deeply about every child she works with, no matter how big or small their difficulties are. We are both so grateful to have met her. Laura is an amazing nurse, and I know our baby was always in good hands.
Laura was a God-sent angel during our son's brief adventure in the NICU. Her kids are most definitely lucky to have a women/nurse like her! Right along with every other kiddo she cares for. I’m certain of that!
Thank you, Laura, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
