I knew instantly that he was talking to a nurse, and he was relaxed. I got a sense of relaxation I can't even describe, as I was worrying 24/7.
Laura went absolutely above and beyond for my husband and me.
My husband had brain mapping done for epilepsy; 19 total leads were implanted into his brain.
As you can imagine, he was very uncomfortable and irritated.
The one night I was not there, the cameras lost connection, so the nurses at the nursing station could not see patients in their rooms. Laura simply went into my husband's room and sat and talked to him, simply speaking.
I got a text I never thought I would get in my life. My husband asked me who designed my wedding dress.
I knew instantly that he was talking to a nurse, and he was relaxed. I got a sense of relaxation I can't even describe, as I was worrying 24/7.
The next night I went in to stay with him and I knew that switch change was coming as it was getting closer to 7pm. My husband kept saying to me "I really hope I have the nurse I had last night; you will love her! You could guys would be best friends if you knew each other out of here, you even had the almost the same wedding dress!" I was excited and hopeful also I simply just wanted to thank her.
All of a sudden, all I hear behind me is "Oh my gosh, you must be K!" I knew right away that it was Laura. My husband was right, Laura and I hit it off instantly!
The previous day, before my husband had a tonic-clonic seizure, he jumped out of bed and ran. With the result of the seizure and all the aftershocks, my husband was exhausted, physically and mentally.
My husband was also getting physically sick from the pain medication due to the seizures so he was unable to keep anything down including liquids. My husband and I were asking for an IV bag because he was very dehydrated. Laura asked for an order for one and was denied. Laura explained the situation and was denied again. Laura then went to management and explained everything. Eventually, my husband got an IV, and it was because of Laura. Due to the denial of the IV bags, my husband's kidney numbers jumped up. Who knows how bad things would have been if Laura had just accepted the denial?
Laura may never know how much I truly appreciate all the things she did for us. Every nurse in NYU was great but Laura is truly a DAISY Nurse.
