I am a nurse on the Special Care Unit at Children’s. In middle February, I was hospitalized and put on a ventilator for a week. During this time, my nurse leader, Latreice, wasted no time getting in contact with my family and coming to see me while I was in the hospital. She made my transition back to work so simple and easy. From making sure my aunt had all my information for my short-term disability to checking in on me the entire time until I came back to work. In my opinion, this was not a part of her job description, but she did it anyway. You can tell that, as a director, Latreice goes above and beyond for her staff by making them feel supported no matter the situation. I’m glad to have Latreice as my director. She was an angel for my family and me during that time.
